It's what's for dinner

Liver and onions.

Last night, I was telling Steve my mom used to make this about once a week. I can't think of a dish I hate more (sorry mom) with all its livery nastiness.

And then Steve tells me, it's what his family used to feed their dog.

Hmmm. I'm not sure if I was severely neglected or his family dog was severely spoiled. I'll let you decide.

Anybody else remember this dish, drenched in yellow mustard?

Yuuuuccck! I hate Liver. I remember my mom putting it in front of me and I was JUST able to chew one slimy textured cardboard tasteless bite and refusing to eat any more. God that stuff is awful. Mom always was tolerant. I think she understood. At least I ate one bite.
Baxter, however, loves liver and I have found recipes using chopped up in the blender liver, which is really, really gross, with oatmeal and whole wheat flour et. al. to make cookies for him. He thinks the liver flavoring is wonderful. And I KNOW they are good for him. Isn't that why my mother gave it to me??? It can't be because I ASKED for it.!

Seriously Sandy, anybody with the gift of gab you've been blessed with should have a blog. And mom's wrong. I also ate it with mustard. Lots and lots and lots of mustard.

I was fortunate growing up...my mom refused to cook liver and onions for my dad, so, I've never had it. I did have to suffer through goulash, though. And my dad was the only one who liked it.
